Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM)

Kosovo is part of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor

Since 2014 Kosovo became part of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), which is the most important and prestigious report in the field of entrepreneurship in the world.

Universum College was charged to conduct this research being the only Kosovo representative of GEM. This project is supported by the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Dutch organization SPARK.

Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) is an annual assessment of activities, entrepreneurial aspirations and goals of individuals in a number of states. In 1999, it is initiated as a partnership between London Business School (UK) and Babson College (USA), two popular schools of entrepreneurship in the world. GEM already has over 100 “National teams” that have participated in this project. This number is growing every year.

According to Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) presented in Santiago in 2013 appears that entrepreneurs are among the happiest people in the world. The report has found that entrepreneurship is a desirable career choice worldwide, especially among women which are focused on innovation. In all over the world, as in the initial stage or even the establishment stage, entrepreneurs showed the highest degree of subjective well-being compared to the people who are not involved in entrepreneurial activities by suggesting that entrepreneurship can be the best choice for career .

Since 2014, researchers from Universum College have worked in this report, which has included direct interviews with over 2,000 people and 50 experts. This report will be published in January next year.
